Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5 NKJV
If you aren't content with what you have and feel you've been given the short end of the stick, what does that say to Jesus?
We live in a Gimme, Gimme Society. Many feel it is their right to have the newest iPhone, even if they have a working phone. Many feel they should be able to go out and order steak whenever they want, when they have decent food in their refrigerator. Many feel they should be able to get the newest model of car on the market, when their car is running just fine, despite the couple of dings to the body. Some feel that they should have the trendiest clothes when they still have plenty of decent clothes sitting in their closets.
What does Jesus feel when we aren't content with what we have and want more? What's more than this, some are angry they don't have more. Just the anger alone shows we are ungrateful for all He's given us. It's worse than being unappreciative! It's like we aren't even acknowledging all we do have, because it doesn't meet our Gimme, Gimme Expectations.
Jesus said He will never leave us or forsake us, but are we telling Him with our lack of being grateful that we are leaving Him, because He didn't meet our Gimme, Gimme Expectations? Is that really the message you want to give your Lord and Savior? There's lots to be prayerful about.
What Do Our Actions Say When Jesus Calls Us? Sometimes, the lack of action conveys more than we imagine, but there's still time to make changes! Yeah, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the Desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee. Isaiah 26:8
If we have an Argumentative Nature or Just Like a Good Fight, Are we Being the Christian Example Jesus Wants Us to Be?
But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition. If God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth. 2 Timothy 2:23-25 KKJV
If we have an argumentative nature or just like a good fight, are we being the Christian example Jesus wants us to be?
I used to really enjoy a good argument, which makes me feel kind of guilty as I write this post. These posts are supposed to be thought-provoking, not just to viewers, but to me, as well. If they are of any use, we all have to be honest with ourselves!
When I would quarrel with others or have a dispute over something, I wasn't being an example of my faith by being gentle and patient. Although I thought I was, I probably wasn't helping the other person see the error of their ways.
If I'm trying to help others better understand how Jesus works in their lives, I need to patiently teach them while praying for Jesus to help them learn the truth. Additionally, it would be important for me to be prayerful in the future to ask Jesus to provide the right words for me to use that will speak the truth to their hearts.

If We Spend More Time on Our Makeup and Hair Each Day Than Our Daily Prayers, Are We Showing We Love Jesus?
Flee youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV
If we spend more time doing our makeup and hair each day than we do on our daily prayers, are we showing we love Jesus?
Well, this Bible verse says to flee youthful lusts. I can see why it would be a difficult one for so many of us to deal with. Both men and women are bombarded with commercials and shows that reinforce that youthful beauty are something to be desired. They work to impress us with the idea that if we only bought their product, we would look younger and have better lives and we would be loved and respected.
That takes us to the additional problem of the message this gives our younger generation who sees us buying products to make us look younger. They see celebrities on T V and around them getting face lifts to keep that youthful look. If they think all these things are necessary to be loved or respected, what does that do to their self-worth?
To top this all off, we find time to do these daily rituals to get love and respect, but the time we have to pray to Jesus on a daily basis gets shorter and shorter. I would dare say the vast majority of the younger generation knows more about our daily beauty routine than our daily relationship with Jesus! This leaves a lot you should be prayerful about!

If I avoid all people who look like criminal types or have gone to jail or prison, am I being the Christian that Jesus wants?
Romans 3: 23 For all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24
Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus.
If I avoid all people who look like criminal types or have gone to jail or prison, am I being the Christian that Jesus wants?
This is a tricky one, because I have been guilty of this myself. I've heard of so many horrific things on the News, so I've sometimes avoided some people. I was just thinking, it's got to be terrible if people avoided you and didn't smile in passing, because they thought you might be a potential or past criminal. I think the very least Jesus would want would be for us to smile when we see people in passing.
So, if a person had made poor choices in the past, but has paid their debt to society, is it acceptable to avoid them, as well? Well, Jesus's feelings are convey in Romans 3: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
So, it's not just the criminal or potential criminal that falls short of the glory of God. WE ALL Do! Would we like others to avoid us, not smile at us in passing, because we've made some pretty poor choices in the past, just maybe ones that didn't land us in jail? I don't really think so.
I've met some of the nicest people who made poor choices in the past and have been to jail or prison, but who have changed their ways. As Christians, Jesus would want us to be open to them, actually He wants us to be open and welcoming to all people, not just the ones that we think are socially acceptable. How do they get their fresh start in society if we ignore them, don't smile at them, don't rent to them, don't give them jobs, etc? We all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, but need to respond to others as Jesus would want us to.
