If you talk rudely to someone of another ethnicity, does Jesus think it makes you superior?
Of course, I can't say what Jesus thinks, but I get a pretty good indication from what I read in the Bible.
I was in a local bank this morning. In the next cubicle a loud man was telling the black banker about all his financial conquests and business dealings. In the midst of his loud bragging, he talked about Nigerians and talked about them in a negative way?
Was this man blind, in that he's putting down Nigerians to a black banker and made them sound stupid like simpletons? No, in fact, he walked unassisted from his seat to the door. So, why would someone say something in such a rude was to someone of similar ethnic background...or to anyone for that matter? I was going to say that I wish I knew, but I think I'd rather not know why people say rude and insensitive things to others in a bragging way!
I do know it says in Ephesians 2:10: For we are His [God's] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
We were not created to thing we are superior to anyone else or to say rude and insensitive things to them. Additionally it says in Mark 12: 31 And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
When that man was bragging to prove how superior he was, and how he made lots of money taking advantage of the Nigerians, he wasn't being an example of loving his neighbors as himself.
