How Would Jesus Feel If We Hesitated to Get Out of the Boat to Follow Him?

Matthew 4:21-23 says: Going on from there, He [Jesus] saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He [Jesus] called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.

How Would Jesus Feel If We Hesitated to Get Out of the Boat to Follow Him?

Well, you might think, I'm not in a boat and Jesus isn't asking me to follow Him. He asks all of us to follow Him. When we have a choice between sleeping in late and reading the Bible each morning, are you following Jesus?

When we have the option to be truthful on our IRS forms, but fudge a little, since "You are the one who earned it, anyway!" Are you following Jesus?

When you hear other people putting down someone of a different ethnicity and you join in or you decide to say nothing to defend them, are you following Jesus?

When you know someone is having a difficult time, do you invite them out for a drink to unwind or do you invite them to church? Are you following Jesus?

We have opportunities to follow Jesus each and every day of our lives. Jesus gives us free choice to make our own decisions, but are you following Jesus?
