How Many of Us Have Said Things Like, "I will Love You, Jesus, If You Just Protect Me from COVID 19?"
It sure is easy to turn to Jesus in times of crisis. I know, I've done it myself, but is that what faith really is? Luke 10:27 says: So he answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."
This means that we aren't supposed to turn our faith off and on like a light switch and only turn to Jesus when things are rough. If we love Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind, we aren't just focusing on Him during those difficult times. He is the light of the world, and we are supposed to have an active relationship with Jesus on a daily basis. That doesn't just mean only following the parts of the Bible that suit our fancy. That includes loving our neighbors as ourselves, regardless of what their skin color, nationality, faith, sexual orientation, legal status is.
We love Him because He first loved us. If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him [Jesus]: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 1 John 5:19-21
What Do Our Actions Say When Jesus Calls Us? Sometimes, the lack of action conveys more than we imagine, but there's still time to make changes! Yeah, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the Desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee. Isaiah 26:8
