Flee youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV
If we spend more time doing our makeup and hair each day than we do on our daily prayers, are we showing we love Jesus?
Well, this Bible verse says to flee youthful lusts. I can see why it would be a difficult one for so many of us to deal with. Both men and women are bombarded with commercials and shows that reinforce that youthful beauty are something to be desired. They work to impress us with the idea that if we only bought their product, we would look younger and have better lives and we would be loved and respected.
That takes us to the additional problem of the message this gives our younger generation who sees us buying products to make us look younger. They see celebrities on T V and around them getting face lifts to keep that youthful look. If they think all these things are necessary to be loved or respected, what does that do to their self-worth?
To top this all off, we find time to do these daily rituals to get love and respect, but the time we have to pray to Jesus on a daily basis gets shorter and shorter. I would dare say the vast majority of the younger generation knows more about our daily beauty routine than our daily relationship with Jesus! This leaves a lot you should be prayerful about!
What Do Our Actions Say When Jesus Calls Us? Sometimes, the lack of action conveys more than we imagine, but there's still time to make changes! Yeah, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the Desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee. Isaiah 26:8
