But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:9-10
Can the desire for wealth tell Jesus that money is more important than He is?
Think of it...how many of us have change who we basically are in the pursuit of wealthy? How many of us have spend hours daydreaming of ways to gain wealth when we could have spent that time prayerfully considering how to better Christians, family members, or parents, etc.?
How many of us have dressed a particular way to give the impression to others that we are deserving of more wealth, a raise, a particular job, status, etc.? How many of us have worked extra hours, whether at work or home, in pursuit of more wealth, a raise, a particular job, status, etc.? How many of us have missed family events in pursuit of more wealth, a raise, a particular job, status, etc.?
How many of us feel we have inadequate time to pray, to read the Bible, to go to church, because of the pursuit more wealth, a raise, a particular job, status, etc.? We need to be in prayerful contemplation about our priorities and hopefully Jesus and family are on top!
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:11
What Do Our Actions Say When Jesus Calls Us? Sometimes, the lack of action conveys more than we imagine, but there's still time to make changes! Yeah, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the Desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee. Isaiah 26:8
