When We Look to Our Political Leaders As Role Models and Get Caught Up in Hatred of Others, Are We Letting Jesus Abide in Us?
It makes me wonder how Jesus feels about all the hatred and bias we see in the world today, some of it spurred by the negative actions and rhetoric of those at the top. Who are we supposed to follow?
1 John 2: 23-24 says: And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He [Jesus] in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
What Do Our Actions Say When Jesus Calls Us? Sometimes, the lack of action conveys more than we imagine, but there's still time to make changes! Yeah, in the way of thy judgments, O Lord, have we waited for Thee; the Desire of our soul is to Thy name, and to the remembrance of Thee. Isaiah 26:8
When We Say They Should Go Out and Work if They Need Food, Instead of Giving to Those in Need, Are We Listening to Jesus Wishes for Us?
When We Say They Should Go Out and Work if They Need Food, Instead of Giving to Those in Need, Are We Listening to Jesus Wishes for Us?
We hear others say it all the time and it makes some type of sense, but are we really doing what Jesus wants when we turn our backs on the less fortunate?
It says the following in 1 John 3:16-18: By this we know love, because He [Jesus] laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Does It Bother You When Your Friends Smirk or Might Talk About You When You Stand Up for Minorities?
Does It Bother You When Your Friends Smirk or Might Talk About You When You Stand Up for Minorities?
Jesus wants us to stand up against those who talk down or make fun of those of other ethnicity or those who or are less fortunate. When what our friends say or how they look at us bothers us, we are letting them becoming false gods in our lives. We are letting their actions dictate what we do or don't do. Do you really think that Jesus wants us to pay more attention to what our friends or society as a whole thinks of our actions or what He thinks?
1 John 3:13-14 says: Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother [other people] abides in death.

When We Get Fearful About The Events in the World, Are We Showing Our Trust in Jesus?
When We Get Fearful About The Events in the World, Are We Showing Our Trust in Jesus?
It's easy to become fearful with all the natural and unnatural events happening in our world today like: hurricanes, fire after fire, tornadoes, ice and snow storms beyond anything in the past, and earthquakes.
Now, I can't tell you that these aren't the signs that the end of the world is near, because no one knows the time of the end and each day is one day closer. I can say that we shouldn't wait until it's too late, thinking that when it's close to the end, then we will turn our lives and life-style choices into Jesus' capable hands.
We all need to have an active positive relationship with Jesus, regardless of when the world is. One thing is, if we get panicky over the disasters, we aren't trusting Jesus to take care of us Christians through that time. 1 John 2:24-26 says: Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us-eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 1 John 2:28: And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

How Does Jesus Feel About Us Looking the Other Way Instead of Standing Up for the Poor, Needy and Those Who Have Been Wronged?
How Does Jesus Feel About Us Looking the Other Way Instead of Standing Up for the Poor, Needy and Those Who Have Been Wronged?
Jesus says through the Bible: Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9
This is so hard. Every day there are things that are on the news that show people being ostracized because they are poor, needy, or have the wrong skin color or culture according to some. Well, Jesus wants to know what we are going to do about it. Are we going to just ignore it or stand around condoning the negative comments that are so prevalent today about how these people deserve their fate, but not our help?
I don't think this is what Jesus wants of us. It's not always easy to stand up for others, but Jesus stood up for us and even gave His life to save us from our sins. Jesus will let you know what you need to do on His behalf of these people if you are prayerful, even if it's to write a blog post helping others to become more aware of what He wants on their behalf.
Remember Jesus says through the Bible: Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.Isaiah 1:17
